HH-60G PAVE-HAWK ENGINE WARMUP

Sorry for posting this model again here, I hope it is ok.
Finally I found some time to do a final rendering which really fits to the idea I had in my head for a long time: Warming up the engines with a lot of dust and heatwaves

All is done with 3ds max 9 (modeling was done in 8) and finalrender Stage-1. I used raytraced depth of field, 3D motion blur for the rotors + particles and micro-triangle-displacement for the ground.

Here´s a highres version of the rendering:

Maybe an animation of this shot follows but first I have to dig through TP2.5 again (and hopefully have the time).

I hope you like it
Cheers

Boeing-777 "Cantarel Edition"

Not a helicopter this time
Like the EC-135 helicopter, I did this Boeing-777 for a commercial where it passes the camera very close in that moment where all the flaps and the gears comes out. The fictional Cantarel-version you see here is a private taste and for my portfolio only.
Modeling, texturing and shading (spot version shaded in MAYA) were done in about 30 days by myself. Research took a lot of time to understand the mechanics of the flaps and gears from photo references only. All sizes of the different parts were compared to other parts to get the right scaling between each other and to get it working properly. The mainbody alone has five 4k textures to include the details. The renderings you see here were rendered by finalRender Stage-1 in 3ds max 9. Rendering time for the first image at 2048x1280 was 8 minutes.

The other perspectives:

EUROCOPTER EC135 German Police

Well a helicopter again

I modeled this one for a commercial where it apperas in a red emergency version. The (fictional) police version you see here is a private taste and for my portfilio only.

Modeling, texturing and shading (emergency version shading in MAYA) were done in about 22 days by myself. Modeling was entirely done from photo-references and a few small blueprints from the internet. The renderings you see here were rendered by finalRender Stage-1 in 3ds max 8.

These very modern EC135 models look always like a fresh washed car, no dirt at all. But this looks way too cg-like and gives it a more plastictoy look. I added a lot of dirt to make it more interesting and used. A 16bit bumpmap was used to create some bumps to distort the very even surface to get some variations.

Here are additional images to show some details:

HH-60G PAVE HAWK MEDEVAC

After long time working on it and much more longer time it was sleeping on my harddisk, I finally decided that this helicopter is "final" :P

Some of you may know it already from my 3d work in progress thread which is located here:

{url}http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?f=43&t=407862&page=1&pp=15{/url}

It was a lot of fun doing all the research, modeling and texturing. The unwrapping... hmm not so but it had to be done
All is done by polymodeling in 3ds max 8 from photoreferences and scanned blueprints from a plastic model kit. Shading and rendering was done with finalRender Stage-1.

So here´s a bit of information about the Pave Hawk itself (source: Wikipedia US) :

"The primary function of the Sikorsky HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopter is to conduct day or night operations into hostile environments to recover downed aircrew or other isolated personnel during war. Because of its versatility, the HH-60G may also perform peace-time operations. Such tasks include civil search and rescue, emergency aeromedical evacuation (MEDEVAC), disaster relief, international aid, counter-drug activities and NASA space shuttle support.
The Pave Hawk is a highly modified version of the Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter"

And here are some additional renderings. More to come and for sure also animations are planned (and work in progress atm).

Lumbercrabs!

During a sleepless night I got bored and had the idea of crabs lumbing trees with their big pinchers, led by humans to gather some wood.

I did a rough concept on paper and took it into photoshop for coloring and detailing. Original resolution is at 4000x2000.

No reference was used, except one image of a crab to count it´s legs
I hope you like it!

In My Mind

This is my first real attempt of painting something in Photoshop with my Wacom. Usually I´m doing only 3D related stuff.
After doing a rough sketch of it, I used it as a background to paint over layer by layer. I painted everything in greyscale and to get some colors I used a layer with 50% overlay as the top one. The background itself is a mixture of some repainted rust-textures.
I have no idea about painting in Photoshop. I don´t know how many hours I spend on this image but it was much too long. There´s still a lot to learn and I feel happy for any advice you give me!
I hope you like it!
